Boiling Springs United (Spartanburg, SC), the Fall 2024 UPSL Mid-Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champions (Division 1), kicked off their preseason this past weekend with a 1-1 draw to expansion side Electric City FC (Anderson, SC). The club took the lead within the first 30 seconds, but couldn’t hold onto all 3 points.
Coach Josh Trejo provided a statement after this weekend for the mentality heading into the new spring season.
“We are looking forward to what this season will bring. The boys and I know what the task is at hand is with us moving up to Premier this season. We have worked really hard the last few weeks preparing for our first game opener against Charlotte Soccer Academy. I told the boys we have to take it one day at a time, but with everyone focused I am excited to see how we will perform this season.”
After the first away game at Charlotte Soccer Academy, BSUFC begins a really exciting fixture schedule. First facing Charlotte-based North Carolina Ballers at home, they then go away to Charleston United SC, return for a major matchup against former Open Cup and NISA Independent Cup darlings South Carolina United Heat, and then face Asheville FC after a 20-day break.
After an away matchup against Gastonia FC, the task to get results becomes increasingly difficult. The club plays defending UPSL National Champion Soda City FC in a home-and-away, and follow that up by playing the Heat on the road. They finish the season against Charleston at home. It is pretty clear that if the club wants to stay in the Premier Division, they’ll need to get results early before the major tests come as the schedule moves into summer.
