CFC bolsters roster with new signings
Anthony García and Luke Husakiwsky join ranks
Chattanooga Football Club this week announced a pair of new signings as they look to bolster the strength of an injury depleted squad and push for playoff soccer in the fall.
Anthony García
Position: Forward
Previous club(s): Santos Laguna, Austin FC
Free agent Anthony García has arrived, having most recently lined out for fellow MLS Next Pro outfit Austin FC II where he played with CFC midfielder Steeve Louis Jean. The 22-year-old from Riverside, California was with Austin from January 2024 to April 2025. In the 2024 MLS Next Pro season he played seven times for Austin and scored once. He started three games and came on as a sub in four his only going coming in a 3-2 loss at Minnesota United 2 in August.
The attacker has also spent time in the youth system of Liga MX’s Santos Laguna. He scored three goals in 14 appearances (eight as a starter) for the Guerreros’ U-23 team in the 2023/2024 Liga MX U-23 Apertura and made 15 appearances in the U-20 team in the Liga MX Sub-20 Clausura the season before.
García played collegiately at La Sierra University, where he tallied 42 goals and 11 assists in two seasons, earning the 2022 Cal Pac Player of the Year award as he set a school record for goals in a single season.
The forward will be seen as a replacement for Peter Plougmand who is out of the squad currently, likely with an injury. The club didn’t release details of García’s contract.
Luke Husakiwsky
Position: Midfield
Previous club(s): Des Moines Menace
Also coming in is midfielder Luke Husakiwsky who signs his first professional contract. The 22-year-old from Davidson, North Carolina has elite soccer experience, however, with the Des Moines Menace of USL League 2. In the recent 2025 season, he led the Iowa side to the Great Plains Division Championship and netted an impressive eight times in 13 games. According to the Menace; “his leadership and relentless drive helped set the tone for everything we accomplished this year”.
Husakiwsky played his entire collegiate soccer career from 2021 to 2024 with the University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers. There, he helped the program to win its first-ever AAC Conference Championship in 2023. Captaining the side in 2024, he led Charlotte in a successful defense of its conference title, while also being named team MVP for the season.
Husakiwsky has signed a one-year contract with a club option of a further year.
Chattanooga’s next match takes place tomorrow (Saturday, August 16) when it travels to face Carolina Core. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Truist Point.
How old is Garcia? Would love to know the age ranges of CFC, relative to other MLSNP clubs!
