The Crown fell 2-0 Saturday night to the Colorado Rapids. This snaps a nice two game win streak for Charlotte as they currently sit in 6th place in the east.
An international break can create some rust, but if Charlotte wants to be the top dogs in the east the boys need to capture points, not only one but three.
The first half ended in a draw, the same could not be said for the second. Djordre Mihailovic broke the tie in the 78th minute before converting a penalty two minutes later. When the whistle blew, the scoreboard read 2-0 in favor of the Rapids.
Charlotte controlled the possession, ending the match with 56% possession. While the boys had the possession, Colorado doubled Charlotte’s shots on goal, six to three. The Rapids also had more than double the shots Charlotte did, 21 to ten. After last week where the offense was clicking, this performance was a let down.Â
I really liked how Toklomati played last week and maybe he could provide a spark if the staff is looking to change things up. I have been on the Agyemang train for a while, but I feel there comes a time when a change can help not only the team but also the player. Overall, the offense needs to be more consistent. I know winning 4-1 every week isn’t realistic but consistency can be realistic.Â
The Crown has a chance to rebound as some home cooking is on the menu. The boys can jump Nashville next Saturday when the two meet up in the QC. Nashville sits in 4th place with 11 points in the east while Charlotte drops to sixth on 10 points.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 :30 pm, another early kickoff. Be sure to get to the Fortress early as it's a giveaway game. There's still a lot of season to come, and I believe the crown can turn it around.
