Charlotte FC continued their red-hot form, defeating Real Salt Lake 1-0 at Bank of America Stadium to secure their sixth straight win.
The match opened with a wild moment, as Wilfried Zaha was shown a yellow card in the 2nd minute for an aggressive challenge. From there, goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina steadied the defense, coming up with multiple saves en route to a clean sheet.
Charlotte nearly broke through in the 24th minute when a header from a corner rattled off the post, falling to Kerwin Vargas, who narrowly missed on the rebound. Ten minutes later, the breakthrough came: Ashley Westwood delivered a pinpoint set piece, finding Idan Toklomati for a headed goal that put Charlotte up 1-0 before halftime.
Both teams traded chances throughout the second half, but neither could convert. Late substitute Eryk Williamson had the final chance for Charlotte, but his shot sailed over the bar.
The night also marked the debut of Harry Toffolo, who entered in the 78th minute to loud applause. The former Nottingham Forest defender gave the home crowd a glimpse of what he could bring to the squad moving forward.
Veteran defender Tim Ream was named Man of the Match, anchoring Charlotte’s back line and making several key interventions to deny Real Salt Lake a goal.
With the win, Charlotte improves to 7th in the Eastern Conference on 44 points as the playoff race heats up. With six straight victories, momentum is firmly on their side as they push for a strong finish heading into October.
