Are these new players all on a one-year contract, or month-to-month? Also, any idea what the average pay of the players, or overall club payroll? Thanks!
No there’s not an official minimum salary, but I’d imagine in practice there is a baseline you have to pay above just to convince guys to sign with you instead of a USL club or something
I am guessing the average salaries in the MLS NP is considerably below that, because:
- no CBA for MLS-NP and therefore no curtailing of abusive/ predatory practices or paying less than a living wage.
- most MLS-NP players are much younger than the average USL-C or USL-L1 player, including lots of U17-21s, with no dependents and who are still living at home or with host families, so have considerably less in expenses or expectations.
- far more MLS-NP are domestic, so don't need travel or visa costs.
- the "MLS" moniker leads to some having fantasies of ascending the MLS 1st team. While this may only become actuality for 1-2 players per year, all the rest will take a pay cut in hopes of still chasing that dream.

What is 1+1s ? Can you elaborate?
Of course! A 1+1 is a one year contract with a club option for a further one year
