Jaron Oughterson Remains Hot as Appalachian FC takes down Greenville United
Don’t look now but Appalachian FC are top of the Southeast Conference after match week 2. The boys from Boone took down Greenville United 2-0 to pick up three points before heading home to prepare for a Saturday matchup against the 865 Alliance for a 7:00 pm kickoff at the Ted Mack Soccer Complex. Through two games Appalachian has earned six points and a record of 2-0-0. The offense has been on fire as they have scored six times and the defense has allowed one goal (last week against Port City) to give them a goal difference of plus five.
Jaron Oughterson got the scoring started when he put one past the keeper in the 21st minute for his fourth goal of the season. Despite a delay for lightning, Jaron wasn’t done yet as he netted a brace when he got his second goal of the game in the 60th minute. When the final whistle blew, the boys boarded the bus with three points.
Will the hot start turn into a streak? I’m not sure but I do think the boys will defend home field against 865 Alliance. 865 Alliance has a record of 0-0-1 and sit sixth in the Southeast Conference. Two teams with very different starts to the season but as we all know, anything can happen once the teams take the pitch and the referee blows their whistle.
