League for Clubs adds Gaffa FC
The Jackson, Miss., club is the ninth and final member of the LfC’s Gulf Coast Conference.
Two-time Gulf Coast Premier League champion Gaffa FC has decided to join eight other teams in The League for Clubs.
Here is TLfC’s announcement:
“The League for Clubs is excited to announce the addition of Gaffa FC to the South Region in 2025.
Based out of Jackson, Miss., Gaffa FC is the ninth and final club to join the Gulf Coast Conference for 2025. The conference was formed as a part of a partnership between TLfC and the Gulf Coast Premier League.
Gaffa FC joined the GCPL in 2017 and was crowned champions in their first season in the league. In the years since, Gaffa has made the GCPL Championship two other times, winning the championship in 2022 and finishing runners-up in 2024.
“Our club has come from humble beginnings to compete on the regional stage. By joining The League for Clubs in 2025, we’re hoping to make our name on the national stage,” said Brian Strong, general manager of Gaffa FC. “There is so much passion for the game in Central Mississippi and no shortage of great players that deserve to be showcased. We’re excited about taking this next step for our players, our fans and for the community of Jackson, Miss.”
The club will play its home matches at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, Miss., a suburb of Jackson.
Gaffa FC joins Sowegans SC, Valdosta FC, AFC Mobile, Union 10 FC, Tallahassee FC, Pensacola FC, Pensacola FC Academy and Gulf Coast United FC in the Gulf Coast Conference.
In the coming weeks, a full conference schedule will be released.
Sorry, I misread your post. Gulf Coast Premier League IS the LfC Gulf Coast Conference; GCPL and LfC signed a partnership at the first of the year; the GCPL folks are running this new conference. Some GCPL teams have decided to play with other organizations.
It will be interesting to see how this arrangement works out; I believe some teams are looking at LfC as a layover on the way to USL or MLS Next.
Some of the Pensacola FC people were discussing this at the women’s team tryouts Sunday. They seem to expect East and West divisions to cut down on travel expenses; probably PFC’s senior team, Sowegans SC, Valdosta FC and Tallahassee in the East, with PFC Academy, AFC Mobile, Union 10, Gaffa FC and Gulf Coast United FC in the west.
