While it’s fair to say that more eyes will be cast elsewhere in USL League One this weekend, with three teams fighting for one, last playoff spot, there’s plenty to watch out for in Tennessee. Both One Knoxville and the Chattanooga Red Wolves are chasing their first ever trophy as both are battling for top spot and the Players’ Shield on the final day of the season. Knoxville hosts Greenville Triumph tonight at 7pm Eastern, while at the same time, the Red Wolves play the league’s bottom side, Westchester, in East Ridge. Neither Greenville nor Westchester has anything more than pride to play for, meaning the onus is firmly on the home sides to go out and win!
Chattanooga (W14 D10 L5 GF:40 GA:29 GD:+11 in the league) are coming off an end-of-season dip which saw them go winless in four games before finally winning 2-1 away at Charlotte last weekend. This after some stellar summer form that saw them go 14 games unbeaten between July 5 and September 27. Last weekend’s win in Charlotte was an important morale boost at just the right time, with Pedro Hernández and Aaron Lombardi scoring their goals. They’ve won more than half their home games (8/14) this season and have only lost once at CHI Memorial Stadium.
Westchester (W5 D9 L15 GF:42 GA:57 GD:-15) was eliminated from playoff contention back in Week 30. All they’re playing for is potentially not finishing bottom if they can get a result and jump ahead of Richmond. It’s been a tough debut season for the New York-based side but they have picked up points in half (7/14) of their away matches. Last weekend they managed a 2-2 away tie at regional rivals Portland Hearts of Pine. Captain Juan Carlos Obregón scored both their goals. The Honduran international is the league’s top goalscorer with 17 on the season and is likely win the golden boot.
Chattanooga will win the 2025 USL League One Players’ Shield tonight if one of the following occurs:
Chattanooga win vs. Westchester AND Knoxville lose vs. Greenville
Chattanooga win vs. Westchester AND Knoxville draw vs. Greenville (will include a goalscoring tiebreaker decided after the game)
The game will be officiated by Dion Cox and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The history
Chattanooga: P:1 W:1 D:0 L:0 GF:3 GA:1 GD:+2
Westchester: P:1 W:0 D:0 L:1 GF:1 GA:3 GD:-2
Given this is Westchester’s first ever season, tonight will be just the second time these sides have met. Chattanooga has the upper-hand so far, claiming a 3-1 win back on August 1st in Mount Vernon. Captain Ualefi opened the scoring on the sixth minute with a delightful one-touch volley before Obregón levelled things up just shy of the hour after a rare fumble by Jason Smith. But Jordan Ayimbila and Pedro Hernández settled matters giving the visitor’s a 3-1 win with only 24% of possession.

Analysis and Predictions
I can foresee nothing but a home win for Chattanooga tonight. Westchester have ended the season in better form than we’d seen before, but they have nothing to play for, far from home. The Red Wolves have a club-first trophy to chase and will want to give their fans an end-of-season high after some rough recent results and go into the playoffs on-form. 3-0 to Chattanooga.
