Sunday, Huntsville City FC got back to winning ways as they came from behind to defeat New York Red Bulls II by a score of 2-1. Scoring was opened by New York’s Rafael Mosquera in the 26th, and the hosts held that lead deep into the second half.
Then, in the 72nd, a brilliant ball in behind from Alan Carleton found the feet of Gunnar Studenhofft, who rounded the keeper and leveled the scores. After another long ball behind from Damien Barker John, it was Studenhofft’s turn to set up Carleton in the 83rd, which gave Huntsville a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Lineup
Erik Lauta retained his place in goal in front of a back four of Tyshawn Rose, Wyatt Meyer, Zach Barrett and Moises Véliz.
The midfield pair of Philip Mayaka and Ethan O’Brien supported a front four of Pep Casas, Alan Carleton, Real Gill and Alioune Ka.
Off the bench, head coach Chris O’Neal called on Damien Barker John, Gunnar Studenhofft, Jordan Knight, Kevin Carmichael and Bryce Boneau.

Analysis
This is a really good win for Huntsville against the club atop the Eastern Conference (for now, pending games in hand). Another really, really good performance by Alan Carleton, fresh off a first-team debut the week before.
Really feels like he’s almost guaranteed to wind up with a homegrown deal at this point. Perhaps Gunnar Studenhofft’s best performance in Blue as well, which you’ve needed to see from him. Another yellow isn’t great, but there were plenty of opportunities to lay balls in behind, which Studenhofft excels at collecting.
Next up for Huntsville is another Sunday road date, this time in Kentucky to take on FC Cincinnati 2. We’ll have a preview before and a recap afterwards, see you then!
