Orlando Pride Sign Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle for World Record Fee
The Mexican international joins the Pride from Tigres in another women's transfer record.
The Orlando Pride announced the transfer of Mexican international forward Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle from UANL Tigres Femenil this Thurday. The trasfer-$1,500,000- sets a new record for most expensive signing in women’s football, beating the previous record set by Arsenal’s signing of Olivia Smith. The signing also marks the second high profile signing by the Pride who recruited Barbra Banda for $740,000- seventh most expensive all-time- last year.
Ovalle joins Orlando after eight years with Tigres. During that time, she was able to amass an insane 136 goals- a club record. La Maga would also help take her team to lift the Liga MX Femenil championship on six seperate occasions and the Campeon de Campeonas three times. With Mexico, Ovalle won a Pan American Games gold medal and was names in the Women’s Gold Cup Best XI.

Orlando’s attack will need the reinforements with Banda still nursing her hip and the team winless in their past 5 games including the recently 1-0 loss to Angel City. Ovalle will first play in the Liga MX Femenil All-Star game this weekend before joining the Orlando Pride.
