UPSL Final in Columbia; Battery sign another for 2026
UPSL Playoffs this weekend
The UPSL Premier Mid-Atlantic final is this Saturday in Columbia. The South Carolina United Heat will host Charleston United at 6 PM on Saturday, December 13 at the Southeast Freight Lines Complex. The Heat crushed the Coastal Kings 6-0 in their semifinal last weekend while Charleston defeated regular-season champs Soda City 2-1 to punch their ticket to the final. The Heat defeated Charleston twice during the regular season with a 4-0 win in Summerville and a 2-0 win in Columbia.
Battery add winger from El Paso Locomotive
The Charleston Battery signed winger Wilmer Cabrera Jr. to a multi-year deal in preparation for the 2026 season. The Columbian recently played for El Paso Locomotive FC and featured 41 times for Locomotive scoring 13 goals. “Wilmer is a lethal attacking player who can play a variety of positions, whether wide or central, and is always looking to impact the final play,” said Battery Head Coach Ben Pirmann. “He has a knack for finding space around the opponent’s goal, can take players on in one-on-one situations and can combine with teammates around him in the build-up.”
Battery extend the contract of Head Coach Ben Pirmann
The Charleston Battery have extended the contract of Head Coach Ben Pirmann with a new multi-year deal. Pirmann has collected a record of 64W-26L-27D in 117 matches across all competitions at the helm the Battery and will be in the Lowcountry for the next several years.
