Heat advances to Round of 16; River falls in PKs; Electric 2026 just ahead
Heat advances 2-1 over Arlington in UPSL Round of 16
The South Carolina United Heat won their UPSL Premier National Round of 32 match last weekend in North Carolina defeating Arlington SA 2-1. The Heat will play the weekend of January 3-4 versus Georgia Conference champs Kalonji Pro Profile in the National Round of 16.
River City falls in penalty kicks to Liberty Arsenal International
River City FC and Liberty Arsenal International SA played to a 2-2 tie after 120 minutes before Liberty Arsenal edged the hosts 4-2 in penalties to advance into the UPSL D1 Mid-Atlantic Final. Evan Williams scored a brace for River City providing the dramatic game-tying goal in second-half stoppage time and the then go-ahead goal just seconds into extra time only to see Liberty tie things up in the 101st minute. The Liberty Arsenal International keeper came up with two big saves in the penalty kick shootout and sets up a Liberty Arsenal final versus the No. 1 seed Tar Devils SC.
Electric City tryouts set as team adds UPSL Premier Team
Electric City will hold 2026 Spring tryouts on January 24, 2026. Electric City won the Spring 2025 UPSL Mid-Atlantic crown and will offer both UPSL Division 1 and UPSL Premier Division teams for the upcoming season. Great news to see another UPSL Premier team coming to South Carolina to join the Heat, Soda, Boiling Springs, and Charleston.
