Battery defeat NCFC 1-0 and retain Southern Derby bragging rights
It was a rainy afternoon in Charleston as Emilio Ycaza scored the lone goal of the match to see the Battery defeat the visiting NCFC side as well as retain the Southern Derby title. The Battery ended up level on aggregate 2-2 with NCFC but the away goal in the earlier 1-2 defeat in North Carolina breaks the tie and gives Charleston their 11th Southern Derby title. The Battery travel to New Mexico United on July 12.
Triumph win again as they climb the USL One standings
It was a 3-0 win at Westchester for the Triumph as the squad moved up the USL League One table into 9th place sitting on 16 points. Rodrigo Robles scored in the 9th minute from the run of play and tacked on a late, first-half penalty to push the score to 3-0. Chapa Herrera also scored from the spot in-between the Robles tallies as Gunther Rankenburg earned the shutout in the Triumph net. Greenville plays at Forward Madison on July 12.
Electric City to host USPL playoff match on Saturday
After earning the UPSL Division 1 Mid-Atlantic title and a first-round playoff bye, Electric City is set to host their first-ever playoff game on Saturday, July 12 at Old McCants Field in Anderson. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM as Villarreal Force visits after they won a wild 6-4 game over Jordan Lake FC in the first round of the UPSL playoffs. Electric City defeated Villarreal Force 3-1 in their Spring 2025 regular season meeting and this is sure to be a great soccer match this weekend.
