The games are coming in fast and furious all around the state and there have been some incredible soccer moments over the past week of play. Here are the headlines and game results from around the Palmetto State.
Jaddah Foos named to USL W-League Team of the Month
The South Carolina United Bantams starting keeper Jaddah Foos (Georgia State alum) has been named to the USL W-League Team of the Month for May 2025. The team now sits at 6W-3L-0T in second place in the South Atlantic Division after recent wins over the Charlotte Eagles 2-1 and the NC Fusion 2-0. The first-place NC Courage U23 squad pays a visit Southeast Freight Lines Soccer Complex Saturday night for a 7:30 kickoff.
Soda City win latest Columbia Derby 2-1 over visiting Heat
It was a Soda City FC win in the recent Columbia UPSL derby as Soda scored a pair of second-half goals to erase the Heat advantage and claim not only the match but the Spring UPSL Mid-Atlantic South regular season title. The win also sealed home-field advantage for the upcoming UPSL playoffs that will see crossover play with the UPSL Mid-Atlantic North conference. Soda will host the North Carolina Lions from Winston Salem on June 21 while the Heat will travel to AC Raleigh on the same day. Boiling Springs and Charleston failed to qualify for the playoffs as Asheville FC took the two seed and Charlotte SA claimed the four seed.
Battery split last two road matches; Return home this weekend versus Rising
Charleston went on the road to New England and brought home a 2-1 win over Hartford Athletic in USLC regular season action. The win featured goals from MD Myers and Nanan Houssou who scored their goals early in the first half (Myers 7’) and early in the second half (Houssou 50’) to catch Athletic still in the locker room. The team continued this road trip and stumbled 0-1 at Miami FC during the midweek. The Battery now have 28 points just three points off the top spot held by Louisville City. The Point will be busy Saturday night as Phoenix Rising makes a trip to the Lowcounty for a 7:30 PM kickoff.
Electric City FC hold the top spot in UPSL Division 1 Mid-Atlantic table
Electric City FC maintained their spot at the top of the UPSL table with a 4-0 road victory in Asheville last weekend. The team has an 8W-1L-0T record with just two remaining games in the regular season. The next two matches are home to Liberty Arsenal International on June 21 and then away to Emerald City on June 28.
Triumph drop pair of matches by 0-1 score lines
It was two more close calls for the Triumph who dropped a 0-1 decision at Omaha on June 12 only to fall by the same score line in Charlotte on June 15. The Triumph are in 11th place in the USL1 table with a 2W-6L-4T record. Scoring just 11 goals in the 12 games played has been the major concern for the team as their defensive record of allowing 16 goals has kept them close in almost every game this season. The Red Wolves visit the Triumph on June 21. The Triumph also made news off the field with the announcement of a new third kit.
Liberty win two on the road and move into second place in W-League South Central standings
It was a pair of road wins last week to keep the Greenville Liberty in second place in the USL W-League South Central Conference. A 1-0 win at Tennessee was followed by a 2-0 win at SSA Swarm were the road results. The Liberty have two remaining home matches June 20 and 24 and then a trip to run-away conference leaders Asheville City on June 28.
Soda City Women to play doubleheaders both days this coming weekend
The Soda City Women will host a UPSL/WPSL doubleheader both days this coming weekend at Irmo HS. Saturday the UPSL game will kickoff at 1 PM vs Rush United FC with the WPSL game kicking off at 4 PM vs NCFC. Sunday the UPSL game kicks at 4 PM vs Boiling Springs while the WPSL match kicks at 7 PM vs Women’s Football Club of Charlotte.
Bantams host NCFC U23 team on Saturday night
The Bantams are currently on a four-game-unbeaten streak entering the match versus NC FC U23. Wins over Tobacco Road, Wake FC, and the Charlotte Eagles along with a draw at Salem City find the team with a 3W-2L-1T on 10 points in third place in the South Atlantic Division. With six regular season games to play and every opponent within striking distance, the Bantams look to be poised to make a playoff push over the next three weeks of USL2 summer soccer in Columbia.
