Charleston Battery slip out of Open Cup
The Battery dropped a 0-2 decision on the road in Washington DC to exit the 2025 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The Battery took the game scoreless to extra time but a host of subs provided the difference as DC unknotted the result with goals in the 96th and 103rd minutes.
Battery defeat Hartford 4-2 in league play
The Battery were rude hosts last weekend posting a 4-2 league result over visiting Hartford Athletic. Juan David Torres scored a brace including an Olimpico to earn USL Championship team-of-the-week honors joining teammate Houssou Landry who added a goal and some superb midfield play in the Hartford victory. Charleston are in third place in the East and sit just three points out of the top spot. The Battery also got stronger at the backline adding defender Michael Edwards on loan from the Colorado Rapids.
SC United Heat cruise past Gastonia FC
It was a 5-1 result going the way of the homestanding Heat and it was Heat forward Tom Marriott netting a hat trick to put him into the top 10 in the nation in goals for the Spring 2025 season.
Triumph refuse to fall and carve out late draw in Richmond
The Greenville Triumph refused to lose last weekend in Richmond and twice battled back in the match to earn a 3-3 draw. The last goal of the six-goal match was scored by Ivan Agyaakwah in the 84th minute to earn the Triumph a point on the road.
Palmetto Athletic FC add summer league tryout dates
Aspiring UPSL club Palmetto Athletic FC have added summer league tryouts on May 16 and 17 at Legacy Early College in Greenville. The club has been playing friendly matches this spring versus USPL clubs like River City and Emerald City as well as local college teams like Bob Jones University. Tryout information can be found on all the Palmetto Athletic FC social media channels.
USL Two and USL W-League rosters filling out around the state
Every day this past week there have been major roster announcements from the USL Two and USL W-League teams across the Palmetto State. There looks to be lots of local talent coming come to play this summer as well as some very exciting international and national players making South Carolina clubs home for the summertime. The season kicks off in just over a week.
