Palmetto State Soccer Mascot Roll Call
Roaming the stands at a South Carolina match real soon…
Everyone loves a mascot and here is a collection of some of the friendly faces you’ll see at an upcoming soccer game in the Palmetto State. In no particular order…plus a few mascots from neighboring areas.
South Carolina United Bantams: Monti the Bantam
This Bantam comes out for the big matches like US Open Cup games and those now Columbia-famous USL fireworks/soccer doubleheaders at the Monti (Southeastern Freight Lines Soccer Center off Monticello Road).
Greenville Triumph: 1961 TR3
This fully restored 1961 Triumph TR3 has delivered the match ball for the kickoff and gets some regular appearances around the Upstate in photo shoots and parades. You can even request an appearance at your next function on the club website.
Charleston Battery: El Chapulín Colorado super fan
Social media darling Pedro the Racoon is an internet sensation in the Battery web posts but the club hasn’t had an official mascot since Battery Man back in the Blackbaud Stadium days. Super fan El Chapulín Colorado and his Red Grasshopper suit have been seen roaming the stands and Supporters Section charging up the Battery during recent matches at Patriots Point.
South Georgia Tormenta: Bolt the Ibis
Bolt the Ibis isn’t from South Carolina but this bird from the ‘Boro sure mixes it up on the Bolt social media channels picking on all the local mascots as well as those found around USL League One. Energetic entertaining at the Tormenta games and super active in the Statesboro community, Bolt is a southeastern treasure that just had to make this list of mascots you gotta see. Check ebay and you can even pick up a Bolt bobblehead from a couple of years back from Bolt’s birthday party!
Charlotte FC: Sir Minty
Another neighboring mascot, Sir Minty has a cape, a stylist chain, and is a fixture at the MLS matches in Charlotte. The best nights, however, are the US Open Cup matches held at the cozy Sportsplex in Matthews where Minty can mix and mingle in the more fan-friendly confines.
Charlotte Independence: Carolina Reaper super fan
Another neighboring super fan is The Carolina Reaper, a regular fixture in the Jacks’ supporters section at Charlotte Independence games. You don’t want to get on his bad side especially on a corner kick when his cow bell is sure to be ringing in your ear.
Hope you enjoyed meeting these soccer mascots from the Carolinas. Now go see them at a game real soon!
