Palmetto State Soccer Report: UPSL Spring 2025 Matches
Here are the key UPSL matches coming soon to South Carolina.
The UPSL schedule release has given the Palmetto State soccer fans some very exciting matchups this coming spring season. The South Carolina clubs play in the UPSL Premier Mid-Atlantic South Conference and 2025 will see some new clubs as well as some old rivalries renewed in this new alignment.
The former Mid-Atlantic Premier Conference has been split into North and South Conferences for the 2025 spring season due to the growth of the league in the region. North Carolina and South Carolina Divisions are then found in the new Mid-Atlantic South Conference where teams will play every team in their state home and away. Teams will also play opponents in the other state once, alternating home and away, with all the teams having a balanced ten-game schedule of five home and five away matches.
The North Carolina Division has Asheville FC, Charlotte SA, Gastonia FC, and the NC Ballers in the mix. Former clubs like Mint Hill and Charlotte FC are playing in other leagues or sitting out the season in 2025.
The South Carolina Division has Boiling Springs FC, Charleston United, Soda City FC, and the SC United Heat. The back-to-back defending National Champions Soda City FC will have some strong competition from cross-town rivals the Heat as well as old familiar foes Charleston United. The addition of First Division fall 2024 regular season champs Boiling Springs make a very formidable quartet playing out of the Palmetto State.
The regular season begins March 15 with interstate games as every team plays across state lines. Charleston United hosts Asheville FC at Pinewood Prep in Summerville with a 2 PM kickoff while Soda City hosts Gastonia FC at Irmo HS in a 6 PM.
The following weekend is another crossover weekend and this time it is the SC United Heat opening their home dates hosting Charlotte Soccer Academy on March 23 at the South East Freight Lines Soccer Complex at 3 PM. Boiling Springs then host their home opener on March 23 as the NC Ballers visit the Carolina FC Soccer Complex in Wellford for a 5 PM kickoff.
While all the Palmetto State matches will be exciting, it’s always the Columbia derby that provides some very entertaining, wild soccer matches. Leg one will be March 30 as the Heat host Soda City at 5 PM at South East Freight Lines Soccer Complex. The second leg will be all the way on June 14 as Soda City host the Heat at 6 PM inside the Irmo HS stadium.
The UPSL playoffs will begin on June 21 and Soda City will be dreaming of adding to their dynasty in the national tournament if they can make it past a very difficult Mid-Atlantic opposition.
Expect some match reports and player/coach interviews in upcoming Palmetto State Reports highlighting the 2025 UPSL season in South Carolina.
