Revs Draws Their Opening Games To Start the 2025 Spring Season
The Georgia Revolution saw a scoreless draw to open their season and a testy 2-2 draw in their second game of the 2025 Spring UPSL Season in the UPSL Georgia Premier Division.
McDonough, March 9, 2025 — The Georgia Revolution Football Club opened their 2025 Spring UPSL Season with two draws as the Revs drew a testy Potros FC team with a 2-2 result at Old Warhawk Stadium in McDonough, Georgia on March 8th. The Revs opened their season on March 1st “on the road” against newly promoted UPSL Premier side Filial Pachuca Georgia at Old Warhawk Stadium in McDonough. Pachuca, who played a 4-3-2-1 tactic, brought a conservative and risk-averse style to open the season with a scoreless draw where the Revs had plenty of chances and opportunities to score throughout the ninety minutes.

In their second game of the season, the Revs welcomed Potros FC, who had last played the Revs in the Fall Season’s postseason which saw the Revs exit after a close extra-time affair. In the first half of the game, the Revs saw an early goal from newcomer Gustavo Atencio who scored the first goal in his Revs career and opened the scoring within the first 3 minutes of the game. Following a controversial no-call on a foul by the attacking Potros forward, Potros scored the equalizer in the 30th minute of the match. Still, the flowing attacks of both teams as well as the physicality shown throughout the game created a spectacle that was beautiful to watch for any onlooker.

However, the second half of the match changed with a more testy and overly physical game that saw Potros FC go ahead in the 70th minute of the game following a turnover in the midfield by the Revs. Yet, the home side saw a fair share of possession towards the end of the match with a drifting cross finding forward Diego Sanchez in the box where he buried the ball into the corner of the net in the 72nd minute. Sanchez, who returns to the squad following his short stint in the 2024 Spring Season with the Revs, scored his first goal in the red, white, and blue of the Revolution. Keeper Joshua Warde had a few incredible saves against Potros FC as the St. Kitts & Nevis International returns for his fourth season for Georgia Revolution FC.
