Tormenta FC and Richmond Kickers began the season in a 6-goal game that would see Mason Tunbridge net a brace with newcomer Niall Reid-Stephen getting an assist.
Throughout the first 15 minutes of the match you could sense the anticipation as Tormenta controlled the ball and would be on attack for much of the time, but Richmond would score on a quick counter in the 19th minute by Hayden Anderson. Not even 5 minutes later, Mason Tunbridge would barrel into the box only to be taken down hard, setting up his first goal via penalty kick driven to the bottom left corner.
Unfortunately for Tormenta, that was the closes the game would get as Richmond would get two more goals in the next 15 minutes jumping to a 3-1 lead. However, Mason wasn’t done with the half yet. In the first minute of stoppage time, he would get a goal after a back and forth exchange with Reid-Stephen. After the half it felt as if Tormenta would bring the match even with Mason coming close early in the second half. But, Richmond would grab a goal in the 71st minute and hold on late as both teams started to get testy with some shoving late in the game.
Tormenta will look to rebound on Saturday March 15th as they host AV Alta FC in their first ever trip to Statesboro, GA.
