Tormenta FC Rolls in 3rd Preseason Game
Plus signing of the youngest player in team history
Torment FC came out hungry on their Valentines Day preseason match up against NPSL side Atletico Atlanta. Sebastian Vivas scored 2 goals while Mason Turnbridge netted 2 as well for the second time during this preseason. Niall Reid-Stephen netted a goal for the second straight week, and Anatolie Prepelita and a roster invitee from their open tryouts each got on the scoresheet.
Throughout much of the match Tormenta kept control of the ball and were attacking almost at will at times. Additionally there were multiple other high chances that a little miscue stopped from fully developing, but that is what these games are meant for. One chance that stood out was a beautiful one that came off a nice touch from Sebastian Vivas to Taylor Gray who just missed the net. It’s those chances that as the season comes alive and develops into the summer we could see more and more of them hitting the net.
Defensively the team was controlling the inside forcing most of the chances to come from the outside, and even those were sniffed out quickly. A couple chances Atletico did get from corners or even off set pieces were handled nicely by the back line. This is an area that will likely get stronger as the season builds and thus will make the goalies job that much easier.
But the biggest news from this weekend though didn’t come from the game itself, it came from the signing of Justin “"JJ” Hardy to a youth contract. I first met JJ when I was shooting my first game for Tormenta and he came up to me and just started talking asking to see photos I had taken to include one I took of him. JJ is one of the continuous ball boys for Tormenta and also one of the fans who isn’t afraid to get loud and let his voice be heard. And with JJ expecting to undergo multiple surgeries over the next few months game days wont be the same without him being there, especially his facial expressions when calls are getting a little out of control. As he prepares for the challenges ahead I know that the entire Tormenta family has him and his family in their thoughts and will be looking forward to seeing him throughout his recovery at home games.
JJ is a brave guy. Worth all of us rooting for him.
