Yaniv Bazini played the hero in South Georgia Tormenta FC’s first win on the 2025 USL League 1 season. With his two goals he proved to be a major factor in the 2-0 win, reminder he is not shy to rising to the occasion as he was a member of the 2024 University of Vermont National Championship team. Austin Pack kept the score sheet clean with multiple saves, especially late in the first half.
During a 7th minute scramble for the ball Bazini capitalized on an AV Alta FC miscue to tap the ball over the line for a quick 1-0 lead. But he wasn’t done there, 9 minutes later in the 16th minute he took an excellent feed from Jonathan Nyandjo for a nice poke-in goal, doubling the lead to 2-0. That would be the end of all scoring for the day on both sides as Tormenta’s defense clamped down early and often, allowing Austin Pack to have a pretty quiet night.
Up next, Tormenta will face Harbor FC in the first round of the US Open Cup on Thursday, March 20th. The US Open Cup is a tournament that they have had some great success in over the years with this years goal being to continue getting further into the tournament and playing spoiler to a MLS club. The next USL1 game will be on March 29th against Union Omaha.
