South Georgia Tormenta FC delivered a dominant performance on Saturday night, defeating Greenville Triumph 4–1 at Paladin Stadium. The result, built on fluid attacking play and a confident defensive display, secured Tormenta’s first playoff berth since 2022.
First Half: Bazini Breaks the Deadlock
Tormenta set the tone early. In the 13th minute, Yaniv Bazini burst through the Greenville defense and calmly slotted home to make it 1–0 his 10th goal of the season and first since September 27 against Richmond.
The visitors controlled possession for much of the half, limiting Greenville to a single off-target shot before the break.
Second Half: Tormenta Turn on the Style
The visitors picked up right where they left off after halftime. Markel Rasheed doubled the lead in the 54th minute, heading in Oscar Jimenez’s corner for his fourth goal of the season the most among Tormenta defenders.
Just six minutes later, Niall Reid-Stephen nearly added to the tally with a curling free kick, but Greenville goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg made an excellent save to keep the hosts in the game.
Tormenta’s third came in the 69th minute through Sebastian Vivas, who pounced on a loose ball in the area to make it 3–0 his first non-header goal of the campaign. Greenville pulled one back midway through the half, but Tormenta quickly restored their dominance.
In the 85th minute, substitute Jonathan Nyandjo capped the night with a perfectly struck free kick that flew untouched into the net, sealing a convincing 4–1 win.
What’s Next
The victory cements Tormenta’s place in the USL League One playoffs and sends a clear message to the rest of the league as the regular season concludes. Tormenta return home to host Texoma FC on October 25 to wrap up the campaign before turning their focus to postseason play.
Until next time — Vamos Tormenta!
