Tormenta Takes 3 Points in Omaha
3 points in 1st game of 3 games in 10 days
In what would end in a win for Tormenta, Bazini nets a brace while the defense gets stingy on quality shots allowed against defending USL1 Champs Union Omaha. One could say Tormenta got off to a good start to their 3 games in 10 days road trip by taking all 3 points on Friday night.
The talk of the match will be the play of Bazini who would get on the board after just 9 minutes when Union would make a costly turn over and he would put the ball in the bottom left corner to give Tormenta a quick 1-0 lead. Ryan Becher would tie the game up not but 4 minutes later after receiving a nice through ball that he would sneak past Sam Jones. However, Bazini wouldn’t let the tie stand for long as he would deposit a cross from Taylor Gray into the back of the net in the 19th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Tormenta almost made it 3-1 between Taylor and Bazini in the 23rd minute when a shot from Taylor would get away from Nuhu and go right to Bazini who unfortunately would be called offsides. Shortly before halftime though Sam Jones would come up big on a shot from Max Schneider pushing it out.
After halftime it would be much of Union trying to tie the game back up with Jones coming up huge but none more important than the stop on Navarro’s chance in the 65th minute. Tormenta would have a golden chance in the 72nd when Niall would put it on goal and the goalie couldn’t contain it but Tormenta had nobody there to help. Union though would continue to put on pressure on Jones including 2 shots in the last 15 minutes of the game where Jones would come up with a big save on one and force a bad shot on the other as Tormenta would hold on to the win.
Overall Tormenta struggled to maintain possession throughout the game but when they had it they did everything they could to make it count. Tonights win would be the first win for Tormenta against Union Omaha in the last 13 meetings and shows the continued improvement of this team under Ian Cameron. Tormenta will fly to Madison Wisconsin to take on forward Madison on 23 July then a quick hop Miami where they will take on Miami FC in the 4th match of the Jagermeister cup where Tormenta sits 4th with 4 points a win would give them a fighting chance to move on past group stages. Until next time Vamos Tormenta
