My best guess is one reason for the stuggles is something you touched on but didn't go more in to. Georgia Southern. Statesboro is the very definition of a college town and whether it's football, baseball, basketball (and to a lesser extent volleyball and softball and even Eagle soccer), people here think of Georgia Southern when they think of sports to go watch with their free time. They may be aware of Tormenta, but they don't have the connection to it like they do with Georgia Southern so the challenge becomes creating that connection, which is much harder to do when competing with a place as established in the community at Georgia Southern.

Maybe do a cross-promotion with the Savanah Bananas, or borrowing some ideas from them, including the lead up to the 2026 World Cup? Like having guys on stilts play soccer? Have a wading pool with views of the pitch so one can cool off in the water while watching the game? Is there part of the demographic with an international origin, so that friendlies could be played at the Tormenta pitch?

While the idea of banana ball soccer would be amazing, I’m not sure it would work for Tormenta. However you bring up a very fun marketing idea. The World Cup in North America is in 345 days, and Tormenta has players from 12 or 13 different countries or have ties to these countries based on their heritage. Why not do a short 10-15 min social media “Why” series based around the players national teams and why they could win the World Cup, even if their team isn’t in it. And it wouldn’t have to be just players either. Manager Ian Cameron could be featured as well. This is just one way to do it as well.

Locals to Statesboro know that Tormenta runs one of the best academies around. Why not create a late fall tournament of U12 players coached by one of the players where they represent a National team? This does multiple things, 1st creates an amazing fan engagement with players especially for the kids, 2nd brings awareness to the upcoming World Cup while honoring the players of Tormenta who can express their nationalities to fans, and lastly it creates an amazing PR event for the organization.

There is a lot to tap into with the Statesboro/Savannah area that could add even more.

Love the national team idea! I hope you can contact the Tormenta owners and help make that happen! I have to think their is an international community in Savannah that could also help fuel publicity and ultimately make the short trek to Tormenta to cheer on their countrymen during USL games!

Which is part of my bafflement. It’s not a crazy distance for fans to come out for, in my opinion
