No official announcement, however the phrase thrown out was, "A healthy amount." Reading between the lines, it seems like a deal very similar to Barajas to Real Salt Lake.
I am guessing Charleston Battery received close to $500,000 (consisting of the add-on fee as part of the $4 million RSL received from Chivas and the original $250K from the transfer to RSL) ?
Jun 29, 2024 — The deal to send Barajas to Real Salt Lake was for a fee in the region of $250,000, sources told The Athletic at the time of the transfer.
Nothing to sneeze at. If that had been a straight transfer, instead of two steps, I think that would have been a league record. I'm guessing that Matthew will have a sell-on clause as well.
This is the obvious dilemma. Not to mention Pasher being out as well. I do expect to see it start to tighten up against Huntsville this weekend. We're likely not going to see many trialists that aren't going to be on the roster, if any. But if they do pull it in and play what looks like their "best" starters, and still concede goals, and struggle to score themselves, I'll be elevated to "very concerned", but not in a panic.
I don't think struggling to score will be an issue. Against Chattanooga FC, Legion forced CFC's starting keeper into 12 saves in just 60'. Several of those diving saves from close range. It could have been a 4-0 affair in the first 20' if a lesser keeper was in net. Pasher helps, but Seba Tregarthen is honestly a stud.
Seba has been great so far, as has Tiago. I do think they're going to be so much better than last year. It just hasn't quite all clicked yet. But it looks like the pieces are there.
Seba is a great story. NCAA Div. 2 player of the year after scoring 17 goals over his two seasons in college, USL2 First Team with Asheville. Hopefully could be another six figure transfer in a few years for Legion!
What was the transfer fee paid by Nashville SC for Matthew Corcoran ?

closer to $1m for the sell-on. But $250k to Real Salt Lake is accurate.
Wow!! The Battery made $1.25 million profit off just ONE player!! That is probably more profit from transfers than 1/2 of the MLS clubs!
